You can only get to Ilulissat by plane or ship.
There are direct flights from Iceland with AirIceland. If you travel to Greenland from Copenhagen in Denmark, you must stop in Kangerlussuaq, and from here take a small propeller plane to Ilulissat.
You can easily a week in Ilulissat. The area offers many different activities in hiking, sailing, culture and flightseeing.
We strongly recommend that you also take out of town to explore the nearby areas, such as our lodge areas in Eqi, Ilimanaq and Nalluarsuk.
There are exciting things to see in Ilulissat all year round.
World of Greenland is one of the few operators that offer excursions all year round.
In the summer we have many visitors, and a lot of different activities. We have mild temperatures, whales, midnight sun and good opportunities for sailing and hiking.
In the fall and early winter, we have some of the densest darkness and the most beautiful northern lights. This period is the least busy months, but you can still go shorter hikes, go on ice fjord cruises, fly helicopters and visit locals. Visit Ilulissat in the autumn for a very authentic Greenlandic experience, and experience the soothing darkness.
From February begins the spring season, which offers winter adventures such as dog sledding, snowmobiling and our popular Igloo Lodge. As a rule, it is also possible to sail Icefjord sailing during this period, just as helicopter trips, Northern Lights trips and visits to locals are popular activities.
