You can only travel to Glacier Lodge Eqi from Ilulissat. The transport from Ilulissat to Eqi takes place by boat, and this boat tour is included in all stays. The boat departs from either the northern side of the harbor or from Hotel Icefiord. The meeting place is therefore always at Disko Line Explorer's office in the city centre. From here there will be a bus transfer to the boat.

The length and departure time of the boat trip may vary depending on the type of boat used that day. The boat will always depart in the morning, dock in Eqi at 15:00, and be back in Ilulissat between 16:30 and 18:30. The specific time will appear on your ticket.

Only Disko Line Explorer determines which type of boat is used. If your departure time changes after you have booked your stay, you will be informed of this.

When you go ashore at Glacier Lodge Eqi, you need to ascend 100 altitude meters, while you carry your own luggage. The terrain is uneven mountain terrain, therefore, basic motoric walking functions, a general good physical form and proper foot ware are important.

The landing is steep, but our staff is always ready to give a helping hand.

If you have difficulty walking, but still think you can walk up to the lodge from the gangway, we recommend that you book a comfor cabin. These cabins are all close to Café Victor, where all meals are enjoyed.

The landing is not handicap friendly, and we do not recommend physical handicapped to visit Glacier Lodge Eqi.

All stays in Glacier Lodge Eqi include the following:

Transfer fra Disko Line Explorers kontor til båden.
Boat trip from Ilulissat to Eqi and return.
Full board during your stay and on the boat trip.
Hike to the viewpoint at the moraine on the day of departure.
Towels and linens.
Boat tour back to Ilulissat

It is recommended that you pack as light as possible when you go to Eqi, as you have to carry your bag yourself 100 meters up the mountain at the landing.

Difficulty Level
1: Easy

An easy tour means that you must be able to walk a few kilometers in slightly hilly terrain. Like taking a walk on paths in the woods, with a little detour every now and then. You must also be mobile enough to be able to board a boat, even if it may sway a little.

2: Moderate

Accessible to anyone with good health, who is used to off-road walking and hiking. When it comes to sledding, we call it moderate, as you may have to get off the sled and walk / run next to it. In addition, you need to have a healthy back as there will be bumps along the way.

3: Challenging

On a challenging hike you must be able to walk up and down steep hills. You may also have to walk on loose rocks and cross streams, and walk on snow/ice. Involves hiking with a backpack. When challenging is used in connection with sledding tours, it is because we expec that you can walk / run after the sledge up hills, if this is needed.

4: Demanding

On a demanding hike we expect you to be in good physical shape. This means that you can hike long distances, maybe during several days, and that you can climb many altimeters during the day. Eg. our hike to the Inland Ice, where 1000 altimeters and 20 km must be climbed in one day. Demanding hikes involve hiking with your own backpack.

Strenuous

Expedition level. Requires considerable effort and perseverance. Only suitable for people in really good physical shape.
